The Eighth Story. Nineteen Years Later.

Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, a new play by Jack Thorne, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage. The play will receive its world premiere in London’s West End on July 30, 2016.

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

[Spoiler alert! You've been warned!]

First, I have to admit that I am one of Harry Potter's biggest fan. Since I collected every HP movie, I started to falling in love with Rowling's Wizarding World. I often check Pottermore.com to get new update about Harry Potter. When I heard that Rowling released her eight book, which is some sequel from Harry Potter series, I really excited. I started to made many speculations in my head about Albus-Scorpius Journey.

Well, It's not a novel, actually
If you wish that Harry Potter and The Cursed Child is like another book of Harry Potter, I think you will disappointed. Why? Because this book is not in novel format. Actually, this book is a drama script. Yap. Harry Potter and The Cursed Child has been perform into drama. That's why Rowling and the two other author, John Tiffany and Jack Thorne, transform that script into a book. If you ask me am I disappointed or not, I will answer that I am not. I like any kind of book actually. It depends on the story. If the story is not interesting anymore, why should I force my self to finish it? But, if that book have a good story, why should I protest if the format is not like a book as usual?

"Don't stop and don't be scared you'll crash into it, that's very important. Best to do it a run if you're nervous. Harry, pg, 10.

Not only Rowling
Like I said before, Harry Potter and The Cursed Child not only wrote by Rowling. Two other author involved there. They are John Tiffany and Jack Thorne. To be honest, I never know about the two of them or heard about them. So, I don't know any kind of work from Tiffany and Thorne. In my opinion, I still can sense Rowling's work even though in some part, I couldn't sense it. Well, it's not a bad combination. I like the story.

Who is the cursed child?
When I heard about the title, I started to suspicious, who is the cursed child?

The story begins with the last scene of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Potter's family walking together along King Cross Station. This is the day when Albus Severus Potter started his school. Actually, he is a little bit nervous. He thinks that he couldn't be like his father. You know, Harry has a good reputation. The Boy Who Live and of course, the one who can defeat Voldemort. I don't know how to call it but I think that Albus lack of confident on his self.

Harry Potter and The Cursed Child cast.
Well, may be I would fall for Scorpius Malfoy. Haha.
Then, he met Scorpius Malfoy, son of Draco Malfoy. Since then, Albus and Scorpius being a best friend. They spend their time together. Even, they got sorted in to the same house. Whoops. Did I give too many spoiler? I am so sorry. You've been warned before. Like what I said, in this book, the Potter is not being a Potter. Albus is not like his father in some way. Or maybe same as his father but got weighted by his father's reputation.

As Albus and Scorpius know that ministry of magic had a Time Turner, they have some plane with that thing. Well, If I am not mistaken, this time turner would bring more disaster if the user could not use it wisely. No matter what, playing with time is not the right thing to do. Long story short, Albus and Scorpius got trapped in some time spectrum in the past. So, they need the other's help.

Can you run faster?
I don't know. May be because this book is a script format, the plot is very fast. Sometimes, you will feel that the story going so fast. There are so many jumping scene. So, if you are not reading very intensely, you will get lost. This thing actually doesn't make me comfortable to read it. But, I still can relate all of the scene that showed by the author.

The truth is a beautiful and terrible thing, and should therefore be treated with great caution. Harry, pg. 51.

You will not disappointed!
Well, I think that this book is like a medicine for all of Pottermore. I means, you can know about what will happen to Harry since the Hogwarts Battle. This book is like some reminder about Wizarding World. Eventhough this book is not really about magical world, it is more a drama story. But I still recommend this book for all Harry Potter fans.

4 stars for Albus and Scorpius frienship.
